You're Not With Me

October 04, 2020

Being away from family, friends and overall the people that mean the most to you is hard. This week I chose the song You’re Not With Me by No Vacation. The set of lyrics that relate the most to this photo set is

We walked through the city at night
And I whispered in your ear
That I need you here with me
You know that street we just past?
I think that's where I saw you last

And I'm 365 days away
You're not with me anymore

The reason why I chose this song was because of the current situation of the pandemic. I chose to take photos of buildings around my city where my friends and I used to hang out a lot as well photos of buildings across the river. The reason for this is because I don’t get to see my friends across the river because of the border restrictions.

I incorporated the two photos of my friend Mia in front of one of the places we hang out around to represent the friends who I don’t get to see often if at all. The buildings and scenery within this photos act as the people and the places I can’t see, the ones I’m so used to seeing but haven’t in months because of everything that is going on. These set of lyrics hit me because it heavily relates to my situation and a little but of how I am feeling now.
